This page explains which of your data CarrosUsados.cr uses, why, for how long, and how to ask us to correct or delete it. We apply it under Costa Rica's Law 8968 on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of their Personal Data.
Who is responsible
Your data is the responsibility of Pura Vida Tech S.A., company ID 3-101-721969. For any question about your data, write to legal@carrosusados.cr.
What data we use and why
- Your account: your email, your password (stored encrypted; we never see it) and the language you chose. We use them to sign you in, confirm your email and write to you about your listings.
- Your listings: the vehicle's details, photos, price, description and the contact details you entered (name, email and phone). We publish them so buyers can find you. Your phone number isn't written on the listing: it opens when a buyer taps "Message on WhatsApp" or "Call".
- The contacts you receive: when a buyer taps those buttons, we count the contact to show it in "My listings". We don't store who it was: only a code that changes every day and can't identify them.
- Promotion payments: the product, amount, date and Tilopay's answer (the order number and authorization code). To process the payment we send Tilopay your name, email and phone. You type your card details on Tilopay's page: we never see or store them.
- Your session: our own cookie so you don't have to sign in every time, expiring after 30 days. We use no advertising cookies and no tools that follow you across other sites.
- Usage statistics: we use Google Analytics to learn which pages are visited and improve the site. It sets its own measurement cookies and never receives your name, email or phone. You can block it in your browser settings or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Who we share it with
- Buyers, only what you publish in your listing and the contact method you chose to offer.
- Tilopay, to process promotion payments.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site's information and may be outside Costa Rica.
We don't sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and listing data while your account exists. An expired listing stops showing on the site, but we keep it so you can renew or republish it. Payment records are kept for as long as the law requires for accounting.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we have about you, correct it, delete it, or object to its use. Write to legal@carrosusados.cr from your account's email and we'll answer. If you're not satisfied, you can turn to Costa Rica's data protection agency (PRODHAB).
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date above and, for an important change, we let you know by email.
