These terms explain how CarrosUsados.cr works and the rules for listing, contacting and paying for promotions. By creating an account, submitting a listing or paying for a promotion, you accept them.

Who we are

CarrosUsados.cr is run by Pura Vida Tech S.A., company ID 3-101-721969. We are a listings site: we put people who sell and buy used vehicles in Costa Rica in touch. We don't sell vehicles, we don't broker sales, and we aren't a party to the deal between buyer and seller.

Your account

To list you need an account with a confirmed email. You're responsible for what's done with it; don't share it, and use a strong password.

Listings

  • Listing is free.
  • Every listing is reviewed before it goes live. We may approve it, ask you for changes or reject it, and we tell you why.
  • A live listing lasts 60 days. We remind you before it expires; you can renew it in one click in the last 7 days, or up to 30 days after it expires, without another review.
  • If you edit a live listing, the changes are reviewed; meanwhile the previous version stays live.
  • You can upload up to 30 photos, in JPEG, PNG or WebP.
  • When you sell the vehicle, mark it as sold in "My listings".

What isn't allowed

  • Vehicles that aren't yours or that you can't legally sell.
  • False or misleading information, including the price.
  • Photos from other listings or that don't show the vehicle.
  • Repeated listings of the same vehicle.
  • Offensive content, or listings for anything that isn't a vehicle.

We may reject or remove a listing that breaks these rules.

Contacts and the sale

Buyers contact you by WhatsApp or phone, as you chose to offer. Negotiation, inspecting the vehicle, the transfer and the payment are between buyer and seller. We recommend checking the vehicle and its documents before paying, and never paying in advance.

Paid promotions

  • Featured: your listing shows first in searches, on its make and on its model, with the "Featured" badge, for 15 days.
  • Super Featured: everything in Featured, plus a spot on the home page and a post on our Facebook page, for 15 days.
  • They're bought for a listing that's already live, from "My listings". The price is the one shown when you pay. Prices include the 13% VAT.
  • The promotion starts when we confirm the payment with Tilopay. If you extend it, the new days start when the current ones end.
  • While a promotion runs, the listing stays live even if it reaches its expiry date.
  • If you sell the vehicle or the listing stops being live, the promotion ends.

Payments

Payments are made by card on Tilopay's secure page. We never see or store your card details. Once the payment is confirmed we email you a receipt; that receipt isn't an electronic invoice.

Refunds

  • If you paid but the listing stopped being live while you were paying, the promotion can't start and we refund the full amount to the same card.
  • If you were charged twice or by mistake, we refund the extra charge.
  • If you sell the vehicle with unused promotion days, write to us: we review it case by case.
  • Refunds go to the same card and can take a few business days to show on your statement. We email you when we make it.

Liability

We do our best to keep the site working and to review listings, but we don't guarantee the accuracy of what sellers publish or the outcome of a sale. We're not responsible for agreements between buyer and seller.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and for an important change we let you know by email. These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica.
